NSFAS Student Portal Login: The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has confirmed that it is in receipt of fund allocation for the first quarter of the financial year 2022-23 from the National Treasury. The scheme will process the aforesaid payments to the institutions and in turn, they shall start making the student allowances from Friday, April 08, 2022.
The Government has informed all institutions about the allowance payment process. It is sent to institutions that have complied with the NSFAS eligibility criteria of 2022. NSFAS will provide payments to institutions that follow the conditions laid for financial aid. Further, NSFAS instructed the institutions to stick to the norms of the funding rules and follow the financial aid conditions while disbursing the funds into the student’s account.

National Student Financial Aid Scheme for Tertiary Education:
1. The South African Government provides financial help to students of undergraduation. The government has initiated a scheme that is referred to as National Student Financial Aid. The students who have completed their schooling and are unable to bear the financial cost of the undergraduate courses are eligible for financial funding. NSFAS Support to the Financially Disadvantaged:
1. The Dept of Higher Education and Training (DHET) promotes the NSFAS scheme in accordance with the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999). It promises to offer financial support to disadvantaged candidates who are studying at TVET colleges or public universities.
2. Bursary covers all expenses that are direct towards accommodation, living allowance, transport, and course material and this is possible if it functions in alignment with the DHET approved guidelines.
USFAS Financial Limitations Students at TVET Colleges / Public Universities:
As mentioned above, the bursary covers the expenditure but with a set of limitations on every overhead.
1. Accommodation for the student is remitted as per the University rates and the same amount is extended to private accommodation
2. The transport is provided for the students INR.500 per annum. The farthest path from accommodation to the institution must be not more than 40 kms.

NSFAS Funding Eligibility Criteria:
1. The scheme is run for every South African Citizen. The applicant (student) who is a recipient of SASSA is eligible for NSFAS funding.
2. The combined financial income of the household should be less or equal to INR 350 000 per annum. For an applicant (person with a disability) the combined household income should be less or equal to INR 600 000 per annum.
3. Applicants who began their undergraduate before 2018 should have a household income less than or equal to INR 122 000 per annum.
Create a myNSFAS account:
1. A candidate must reach out to www.nsfas.org.za and then click the myNsfas account.
2. The candidate must enter the username, password, and electronic mailing address.
3. The candidate must click my personal details tab, and in case one wants to update the registered details it can be done accordingly. In such a case, the candidate must click ‘update your details to proceed.
4. After that, the candidates need to verify the OTP which is delivered to the existing phone number as well as the email.
5. The candidate must enter the OTP and then click the submit button. The entire details shall be uploaded instantly.
6. NSFAS web portal gives options to the registered candidate, one can sign into the account through google accounts, or Facebook as well.
Forgotten Password:
The candidate must access the NSFAS Student Portal login page i.e. www.nsfas.org.za. After entering the home page of NSFAS, one must click the myNSFAS button and then select the forgotten password.
1. The NSFSA Online portal shall lead to a new dialog box that contains the blanks such as ID number, and the remaining blanks refer to ‘I can’t remember my username, I can’t remember my password, I Can’t remember my username and password.’
2. The candidate must enter the ID number, tick the relevant option and click the submit button.
3. The NSFAS Portal shall send the One time password to the registered phone and email. The candidate must type in the OTP obtained and hit the submit button.
4. Later, the candidates will get the reset link to their mail address to reset the login details. The candidate must click the link and after opening the dialog box to create a new password one must follow the instructions provided on that page.
MyNSFAS Account Login:
1. A candidate must enter the web portal www.nsfas.org.za and click the submit button.
2. The candidate must click the MyNSFAS account and the portal shall redirect to a new dialog box.
3. The candidate will have to enter the logins like Username, and Password and hit the submit button.
